Jonas Kaerup - CML C4.1, Mid Motor Associated B4

OOP_1804.jpg

Jonas Kaerup was running quick all day with the new C4.1 that has been dominating the sharp-end of the UK's BRCA 10th off road national series this year. The new car is based on the Atomic Carbon S2 - a conversion for the Associated B4 which was reasonably popular - but with the Associated distributors now taking on the development and working with Atomic Carbon to bring the car to a wider audiance the car finally has the top drivers it needs to show it off.

Jonas got hold of one of the pre-production cars since he is 'mates' with fat-Gary Barlow look-a-like, Craig Drescher. Craig managed to sort Jonas a car out a few weeks prior to the Belgian GP and he managed to get in a couple of practice races with it before coming to Belgium - and it showed as he was bang on the pace.

Jonas also raced the regular Associated B4 prior to getting the new C4.1 and commented that for most tracks with this surface the mid-motor car was simply faster.

What do you usually race?

I took a break from off-road for 10 years to race touring cars but now I am back in off-road. I’m racing for associated so run the c4.1 in 2wd - it’s brilliant on the astro, and we usually run astro tracks at home.

In 4wd I’m running the B44.1. Running standard set ups.

GM electrics speedos and motors.

Is this your first time racing in Belgium?

I haven’t raced here for 12 years, the competition is tough with all the good local racers, it’s always a good friendly event though. I like the track, it’s like a family traditional track, it’s awesome the way they care about the racers. It’s good to race against the british drivers too, they are always stiff competition.

Where is your home track? And how often do you usually race?

Odense, In the run up to a big event I usually race up to 3 times a week, but I also go to other races such as the gas 1/8th scale - I drive the RC8.

Who TQ’d the dancing?

I would say Cockerill did, he was awesome, Lee was a close second though.

What race result are you the most proud of?

2nd place yesterday was very good. Eurpean championship win in touring cars at the 2004 Euros in Sweden.

What happened in round 1 this morning?

I wanted to sleep in! but they wouldn’t let me ;)

Which is your favourite ever track?

This venue is the best, the track layout is cool.

What are your future racing ambitions?

I’d like to do well in a European off-road series if they run one, I don’t have plans to run worlds and euros just yet though, I’d like to spend time with my wife and young son. And maybe make more ;) He’s great, he is called Markus and he has already done one race. He was distracted by a tractor though.

The C4.1 Does It Again!

The Centro C4.1 continues it’s dominance of the British National racing scene at round five of the BRCA series with another TQ and win.

Having dominated on the multi-surface track of the previous round the team did it again, this time on the old school grass track at Oswestry.

Neil Cragg took pole position with the C4.1 mid motor conversion of the Associated B4.1, and this time he was joined in the A final by Tom Yardy, Paul Bradby, Phil Sleigh, Richard Lowe and Keith Robertson.

The team then went on to win all three legs of the A final as Neil took the overall win ahead of Tom in second. This puts Neil in a very strong position for the championship with only his good buddy and team-mate Paul able to catch him.

A great performance by the team with six of the eight pre-production cars present making the top ten as the drivers continue to refine the car and log set-ups in the build up to its release.

salut a tous,

Merci

Victor

Tony Truman dominates the BRCA EOS F2 finals using the upcoming C4.1 and Associated B44.1 Buggy.

The first of the BRCA 1/10th electric off-road End of Season finals were held at the Silverstone Buggy Club. Their members had put in a lot of effort and those racing enjoyed a great meeting. The grip was high in the dry conditions with many drivers selecting the Fastrax Turf Ripper tyres to give them the grip and balance they needed.

In the 2wd event CML driver Tony Truman had his first drive with the Centro C4.1 and promptly put it on pole position. He then dominated the first two legs of the A final to take the overall win. Also putting in a fine drive to make the podium in third place was Tony Bishop with a borrowed C4.1

Tony ‘TT’ Truman carried his good form over into the 4wd class to repeat his previous day’s performance with another win from pole position with his Team Associated B44.1.

C4.1 Centro Update

We know many of you have been eagerly waiting for the release of the C4.1 Centro conversion, and we really appreciate your patience over the last few months...

This project has been a steep learning curve for CML in terms of dipping our toe into design, testing and manufacturing in addition to the day to day distribution of products. We certainly appreciate the work Team Associated put into producing a car like the B4.1!

Nevertheless we are close, very close to being able to begin shipping out conversions with parts now arriving weekly. Some parts are already in stock, and we are just awaiting final production samples of machined alloy parts before signing them off for mass production.

Our anticipated release is mid-October or earlier if we can achieve it. We are desperate to get them into your hands as much as you are to race it and enjoy the speed and handling that has made it unbeatable over this summers BRCA 2wd Championships. It will be worth the wait.

Jonas Kaerup Wins Nordic 2wd Title

The Centro 4.1 notches up another win at the Danish 2wd DRCMU Championships.

After 5 grueling rounds in Denmark, where the weather is always a lottery, the Danish 2wd DRCMU Championships were finally decided. With only 3 rounds of the 5 to count, it was very close all the way up to the final deciding race. As most tracks in Denmark are carpet or astroturf, Losi’s mid motor 22 car looked like the car to beat right from the very first race in Odense, where Lasse Nielsen took his GM powered Losi 22 to TQ and pole.

Midway through the year though, CML made a few prototype C4.1 conversion kits for the Team Associated RC10B4.1, and one kit was made available for double nordic Champion Jonas Kaerup. He duly took the win with his GM-powered AE CML C4.1 car in the very first outing in Viborg on Danish soil, and this race too was run in the wet. With two more wins and a second in the last 3 rounds of the Championship Jonas Kaerup won the Danish National Championship with the AE CML C4.1 car. 2nd and 3rd went to Lars Alex and Lasse Nielsen, both with GM powered Losi 22’s.
