Posted February 13, 2010 Chazz: Anybody who wants an SCX - 60, E-mail me. chazz@4wdrc.com You will get a SpeedyDad chassis and a hand-made Delrin rear body mount for $129.00 + slhipping. The chassis, which, as Dad explains above, is hand made by cutting two apart and gluing them together, carries the famous 50-50 guarantee. Dad has made a number of chassies like this for various X Factory R & D projects. They have been used by Team drivers in every class including 4WD. Only one has ever broken where Dad put it together, but still we give only the 50-50 guarantee, and I want everyone to know that. You will need to have a running X - 60, all the various SC 10 bumpers, an SC 10 body, and some touring car body mounts. If you buy an X - 60, we will use the chassis from that and the price will be $109.00 + shipping. (+ the X - 60) Or, you can send us the chassis from your current X - 60. (I wouldn't want to give up my X - 60, and shipping to us will eat up part of the savings, but you can do that if you want.) You will pay $80.00 or $70.00 in advance (non-refundable), and the whole thing may take a month, but we will do it for any and all who are interested. Understand that SpeedyDad has a full time job and he races or rock crawls most weekends. Not available from our web site or through any dealer, only by E-mailing me. These will be strictly one at a time as they are ordered. We have a method for safely transmitting your CC info and we will enter it manually. Do NOT send CC info in your first E-mail. The Family has been asking for this for a long time, so let's do it.

Posted May 14, 2010 cela devient de moins en moins un projet de demonstration et de plus en plus une voiture qui va etre vendu BK's SCX-60 Like everyone else in the US, Brian Kinwald got into the Short Course craze as it was developing. BK picked up an SC10 last summer, and dialed it in such that Josh Reyburg was able to win mod SC @ the SIGP race with it. So of course Dirt followed Chris Krieg's work closely, helping Chris and Alex make and dial in the first SCX-60. After the initial order rush finished, and Chris was able to take a breath, we were excited to get one of these trucks in BK's hands. "I knew this was going to be the most dialed X Factory car yet. With how good I was able to make the SC10, I still could feel that motor hanging out copmared to my X Factory rides. I've been building, testing, and running this truck for a few weeks now, and all I can say is incredible. People have asked me to stop racing it, 'cause it's not fair. So on club nights I usually TQ the first round by a lap, then sit out and let Alex win while I watch his truck and we work to make it even better." "This truck is a bit heavy, but that's not a bad thing... Have you seen ROAR's weight limit for these things?" (74 oz, or 2098g, for those interested.) "Most of those other trucks out there are way under weight, and I'm laying it down while making weight." We're working to get together Dirt's setup for the family members with their own SCX-60's. We can say it's pretty close to his standard truck set-up, just a few tweaks for the added weight and CoG. One of those tweaks is to run a front sway bar. SC bodies are pretty heavy things, held high off the ground, and controlling roll is an issue for the trucks. Anti-Roll bars sound like just the answer. BK's anti-roll bars were fabricated using a Losi Swaybar set, such as LOSA 4257, which providse the plastic hold downs, sway-bar ball ends, and the links. For the actual bar, BK just cut a piece of piano wire down to length and bent it in the shape he wanted. "The critical thing for sway bars is to make sure they're flat. You want to be able to lay the bar on a set-up board and have the whole bar touching the board. Nothing raised up or at a weird angle. Then, make sure the links are the same length, and there won't be any tweak to the suspension from the bar." Here's the back-end of the truck, showing that Team Icon bling motor. Peaking through everything is another swaybar. All SC truck bodies take some abuse, and BK's is no different. It just takes longer to accumulate when you don't wreck much... this body is his original SC10 body. Here you can see the swaybar, along with a custom rear shocktower brace (that's a # XF 1241 servo mount turned sideways on the tower). BK used some X Ray captured joints for the rear CL, but had to turn the ballstud horizontal to get the right range of motion. "Fluffy loves my SC bodies. Dude, it's the funniest thing you've ever seen. I can hold the body and she just looks at me... I throw the body down and she dives under it before it lands. Then she just sits there like this. If I made a video for youtube it'd get like 6 million views, easy."
Posted June 12, 2010 pour un projet qui ne devait rester qu'un proto Right now the only way to get an SCX - 60 is by E-mailing chazz@4wdrc.com Do that and we will explain as much as we can prior to public announcement. Depending on what you have now, the resulting truck and your cost buying now will not be different.
Posted July 15, 2010 X FACTORY RELEASES SHORT COURSE CONVERSION KIT X Factory will soon release the SCX – 60 Conversion Kits. Two Kits will convert either the AE T4 or the SC10 to a mid-motor SCX – 60. The new S.C. is based on the successful X Factory X – 60 mid-motor truck. Kits will be available soon on the X Factory website and at many fine hobby stores. These Kits will be limited production items because the chassies will be hand made one-at-a-time by Speedy Dad in Phoenix, Ariz. X Factory ships two X – 60 chassies to Speedy Dad; he cuts each into two parts using a special jig. One has a long front end and the other a long rear end. Dad then mixes special “graphite” glue and glues the two long parts together to make an SCX - 60 chassis. Another jig is used to insure the result is straight and true. After the chassies are together and dry, Dad uses his C.N.C. mill to accurately cut three pieces of carbon fiber which are glued into the floor of the chassis and two more small pieces which go on the side rail. Speedy Dad has been doing this for almost two years for various X Factory prototypes, and only one has ever broken at the joint, that in a terrible crash into the wall on the main straight with a mod buggy. Speedy Dad numbers each one by hand. X Factory has been selling a few of these Kits over the last two months by E-mail, but now Speedy Dad will ramp up production a bit and X Factory will stock a small number so they can be ordered from the web site like all other X Factory Kits. The Kits also come with a C.N.C. machined rear bumper mount from the X Factory mill. The T4 Conversion Kit will contain a J Concepts “Truth” short course body and the SC bumpers and nerf bars, so it will be priced more than the SC10 Conversion Kit. The SC10 Kit will contain no body because the customer can re-use his existing SC10 body and the customer already has the bumpers and nerf bars. Short Course trucks are longer than 1/10 trucks. On a rear motor SC truck this means the “pendulum effect” of the rear motor is greater. Therefore, the advantage of mid-motor is more pronounced in Short Course than in buggy or truck. The SCX – 60 is just dialed!

Posted July 29, 2010 SCX – 60 IS ROAR LEGAL X Factory has received an E-mail from the R.O.A.R. Technical Director which states that the SCX – 60 Conversion Kit is now legal for all classes of R.O.A.R. competition. This includes the stock and sportsman classes and includes the up-coming National Championship in Joliet, Ill. This ruling follows logically from the 2004 ruling which allowed the original X – 5 Conversion Kit. The SCX – 60 Conversion Kit is available now from the X Factory web site and is being shipped to stores all over the U.S.
