Posted December 15, 2014 Subject: Electric Section Postal Vote Result & Electric date change Bilbao, 14th December 2014 Dear Members, Following the voting process, the IFMAR Secretary did find out afther the very last day of the procedure that one of the blocs did vote days before but informing eveyone involved but him (me). Mistakes happen unfortunately and this has prevented the office to publish the result of the vote sooner than the present weekend. Joined you can find the result of the two votes, but as mentioned in the header there is a date change for the next Electric Off Road IFMAR events. During this same precise week, following a request of JMRCA, FEMCA has forwarded IFMAR a proposal of date change due to an unexpected collision of the prevented dates 26th September to 3rd October with the All Japan Model & Hobby Show to be hold on September 25 (Fri) – September 27 (Sun) as many of the JMRCA officials must be present at both events it will become difficult to gather staff if the Worlds overlaps with the Hobby Show. Furthermore, it can be expected that Worlds will attract less press and general public attendance as it would have to compete with the Hobby Show. The proposed new dates are the following ones: October 3rd (Sat) – October 10th (Sat) The IFMAR Electric Section Chairman, Mr.Frank Mostrey, afther checking any possible collision with other IFMAR events has approved the change of dates of the events to October 3rd (Sat) – October 10th (Sat) 2015. Many thanks in advance for your attention With my best regards Carlos Gomez IFMAR Secretary Existing rule: 5.1 SURFACE Pack able rock free dirt - preferably sifted top soil/clay compound with minimum amounts of sand. Surface should be able to be easily broken and repaired to ensure a consistent and wide racing line. Such conditions have shown to yield excellent racing due to width and consistency of the racing line. Additionally qualifying is fairer as the ability to maintain a consistent surface gives all competitors an equal track that can be enjoyed by those in heats before as well as after his own. New Proposal 5.1 SURFACE The track surface can be dirt, or else partially or entirely covered with artificial turf. (Commonly referred to as Astro turf) Other materials can be used in sections of the track such as table tops and jumps to assure the durability of those sections for the entire event. Such other materials must be limited to less than 20% of the total track length. Dirt sections should be of screened top soil / clay free from rocks and debris with only a minimum amount of sand and hard packed to provide a durable consistent racing surface for the duration of the event. EFRA FAMAR FEMCA ROAR Yes Yes Yes No Consequently the rule change proposal has been passed by a majority vote. Existing rule 5.2 LAYOUT The track design should employ the following basic components that are found on real off-road circuits from which 1:10 scale racing has been modeled after. a: Main straight should be between 80ft to 100ft. b: Jumps should be liberally used throughout the circuit. These jumps should include single, double as well as triple jump sections. c: Bumps, either a series of “stutter bumps” or moguls should be employed to enhance the overall personality and challenge of the circuit. d: Additional aspects such as drop-offs, elevation changes, berms etc. may also be utilized to further enhance the personality of the circuit. e: Lane width to be minimum of 3 meters. New Proposal 5.2 LAYOUT The track design should employ the following basic components. A: Main straight should be between 25 to 30 meters B: Track width should be a minimum of 3 meters at any part of the track C: Jumps should be liberally used throughout the circuit and should include single, double and triple jump sections, all jumps must have a smooth transition.
